STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY
Actions by Iran Against Jews
The United States is deeply troubled by the Government of Iran's
recent arrest of thirteen members of the Jewish community, including
several religious leaders, and yesterday's announcement that they have
been charged with espionage on behalf of the United States. These
charges are entirely without foundation. We call on the Government of
Iran to uphold its stated commitment to protect the rights of all
religious and ethnic minorities by releasing these individuals and
ensuring that no harm comes to them.
