"Let those who say that we must understand the reasons for terrorism come with me to the thousands of funerals we're having in New York City, thousands, and explain those insane, maniacal reasons to the children who will grow up without fathers and mothers and to the parents who have had their children ripped from them for no reason at all. President's Bush Address to Congress
We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the civil servants namely the police department, the fire department and the paramedics for their courageous and relentless efforts to save as many lives against all odds.
Our thanks to Governor George Pataki and Mayor Rudy Giuliani for their dynamic steadfastness, laboring around the clock to console and to reassure the victim's families and the city at large.
We salute President George W. Bush's resolve along with the US Congress to bring those responsible to justice wherever they may be, and to punish those harboring them in order to impose their doctrine on others.
