Consul General Eli Avidar

 

Consul General Avidar was born in Alexandria Egypt to a family from Greek origin, who immigrated to Israel a few days after the six days war in 1967.

During his diplomatic career Consul General Avidar served as the Consul of Israel for political Affairs in Philadelphia,

As policy adviser to the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

As Foreign Policy adviser to the Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon, when he was Foreign Minister in 1999,

As the head of Israel mission to the Gulf state of Qatar.

Since 2001, he is the Consul General of Israel to Hong Kong and Macao.

Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

Mr. Avidar served as an officer in the Israel Defence Force and retired with the rank of Major.

Currently, the Managing Director of the Israel Diamond Institute

He is married and has 3 children.
